mommy dearest...

3 posts in one day. wow. all time record.
It's my mom's birthday today (11/11).
She's certifiably the rad-est mom out there. (Which immediately makes me think of the Mean Girls quote: "I'm not like a regular mom ... I'm a cool mom" ...but my mom really is.)

When I grow up, I hope I'm just like my mom.

She's the most considerate person I know, always sacrificing herself for those around her. She rarely says no to anyones requests for help or service. She gives more of herself than anyone I know.

Here are a few memories of my mom:

This was on my 21st birthday. She came to visit (a present to both of us from my dad...who also rocks). We did all sorts of things on my birthday. From a long walk up the canyon, to getting mani-pedi's at the local salon, to seeing the Ninja Turtles movie, and then she threw me a party to celebrate with my friends (complete with she and ice area...long story...). And she sends the best packages usually complete with some sugary food I really shouldn't consume in the quantity she sends it in. Yay.

This is my graduation day. As you can tell my mom is WAY hotter than I am. ...I think I was adopted. She was so supportive of me all through school. From the times I ran myself ragged to the times I simply wanted to quit. She taught me how to be strong, plug on through, and the importance of having an education...and always learning.

I just really like this picture.

This is a GREAT depiction of my mom. She has always been hands-on and very handy. She can fix just about anything. This is her working on my Grandpa's truck. She's handy, she sews, she cooks, she cleans, she does computer stuff, she reads like a mad woman, and she runs 6 miles a day. She's pretty much superwoman.

My mom cares about EVERYONE. Her family, her friends, the people she works with. All of them are super important to her. Whenever someone has hit a rough patch in their life, my mom is so empathetic and feels for them.

In short, my mom is the bomb diggity. Happy Birthday mom. I love you.

  1. I love your mom too. Maybe I'll have her come visit ME so we can go on walks and get mani-pedis too. You and I are both on the West coast - she could swing both states... she is superwoman after all. :)
